In the fourth issue of “A Topic To Dig Deep Into,” fact-checking journalists Arshaluys Barseghyan and Karine Ghazaryan discuss how it was proved that mercenaries from Syria were moved to Azerbaijan. They found out who these people were, what impact they had on the war situation and how the countries of the region reacted to their presence.
Neil Hauer, a journalist covering the events in the Caucasus, and a non-resident researcher at the Middle East Institute, and Emil Sanamyan, editor of the University of California, Los Angeles’ Focus on Karabakh, helped to make sense of the subject.
Also, read the media.am article about mercenaries. In it, we reconstructed the route taken by the Syrian militants to reach the South Caucasus.
