On December 16, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan issued a decree appointing Armen Amiryan as a member of the Council of Public Television and Radio Company for a six-year term.
News of the vacancy for this position was announced on November 26. The hiring committee was led by head of the Department of Public Relations and Mass Media of the Office of the President Meri Harutyunyan. Apart from Amiryan, six other candidates applied for the position.
Since 1997 and up until recently, Amiryan was the Executive Director of the Public Radio Company. He submitted his resignation on December 8, 2015.
The Council of Public Television and Radio Company will announce a competition for appointment of the post after the New Year’s holidays; most likely around mid-January. The Council informed Media.am that until a new director is appointed, the Executive Director’s duties will be fulfilled by Council of Public Television and Radio Company Deputy Director Nerses Davidyants.
