Mediamax has news for its audience. From now on, readers can donate money to the media to create current and quality media content and receive exclusive content instead.
Mediamax Director Ara Tadevosyan will send “Column-Letters” by email 2 or 3 times a week, depending on the events to those readers who support him financially.
In the summer of 2020, in order to overcome the financial difficulties caused by the coronavirus, the editorial office asked the readers to help overcome this difficult stage with money.
“Months ago we thought why not use that experience. First, we chose a period of one month and reached out to our friends and colleagues to make donations first. We would like to offer a new product to thank our readers,” said Mediamax’s Director.
According to Tadevosyan, they do not need to invent something new, just by knowing their audience well, getting to know them better, they know approximately what will interest them․ “People, sometimes being busy, do not have time to get acquainted with the events or miss some important topics from their attention. We single out those topics and articles that they cannot find on other sites and send them to our subscribers who have made donations.”
The additional value that Mediamax is ready to provide to its readers does not require additional journalistic and financial resources. The media outlet has not set itself the task of securing a new audience or traffic with this product. Moreover, it is addressed to Mediamax’s loyal readers, who appreciate the work of the media outlet and have been familiar with its content for years.
In this way, of course, they cannot attract serious finances, but they can develop experience in communicating directly with the audience that is financially supporting the work of the media.
Tadevosyan says it is important for them to deliver content to supporters that they will not find on other platforms. “It is not that we differentiate the subscribers from the readers of our websites, we just offer the latter a slightly different media content.”
Letter-Column # 1, “The Different Meaning of March 1, The Last Books and the Scorpions’ New Album,” which was sent to readers on March 1, is written on behalf of director Ara Tadevosyan. It is a free-style, intimate essay, in which the latter presents his published publications, books, and even personal stories and realities.
There is no final decision on the style yet, he says that time will show how it is accepted and whether such a format is justified. In the future, if this cooperation continues, there may also be thematic branching and content development for smaller audiences.
At the moment the messages are text, in the future, there will also be photos and interesting illustrations.
In Armenia, the experience of asking for audience support for content is not great, although Hetq Media Factory has recently taken such steps to develop topics. Rearrange with Narek Amirkhanyan podcast and JAMnews regional platforms, News Radio, and other media resources also turn to the audience for financial support.
