It is expected that according to the social media giant\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.fb.com\/news\/2018\/01\/news-feed-fyi-bringing-people-closer-together\/\">new rules<\/a>, users will see less content from pages \u2014&nbsp;that is, posts from different companies, commercial and for-profit organizations.<\/p>\n<p>News websites are represented on Facebook mainly as pages.<\/p>\n<p>RFE\/RL\u2019s Armenian service (Azatutyun), Mediamx, Aravot, and 168 Zham have prepared for the issue and offered their loyal readers a technical solution. One after another, the following type of post appeared on their Facebook pages:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIf you follow our page and want to continue to see our news stories, please go to our Facebook page, click Follow, as in the accompanying photo, and select <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/help\/1188278037864643\">See First<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4664\/28337099589_204cf92b30_z.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is expected that by taking these steps, users will express their priority interest in the news sites and will continue to see content from those pages on their newsfeed.<\/p>\n<p>Mediamax and Aravot went one step further and decided in order to strengthen the connection with their audience to operate groups in addition to pages on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>Aravot.am chief editor Anna Israyelyan says they haven\u2019t yet felt the change in Facebook\u2019s algorithm. \u201cFacebook\u2019s new manner of working has not yet affected our site visits. We have not seen a significant difference in visits recently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for 6:20 pm on February 6, 201 users had joined Aravot\u2019s newly opened \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/167636533857757\/about\/#_=_\">Aravot.am+<\/a>\u201d Facebook group.<\/p>\n<p>Israyelyan says they aim to make Aravot\u2019s news stories available and accessible to more people: \u201cThe group is another opportunity to interact with Aravot\u2019s readers and also to convey information to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for 6:20 pm on February 6, 715 users had joined Mediamax\u2019s open Facebook group \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/MedimaxCommunity\/about\/#_=_\">Mediamax Community<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe group doesn\u2019t repeat the job of the page; it\u2019s more informal in nature, where we are trying to discuss various issues with the group\u2019s participants, joke, and answer their questions, and enter into a dialogue,\u201d explains Mediamax chief editor Davit Alaverdyan.<\/p>\n<p>The editor says that Facebook\u2019s new algorithm doesn\u2019t restrict the activity of groups, which inspires hope that they will succeed in this social networking site to continue to communicate with readers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rteright\"><strong>Gayane Asryan<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Armenian news websites have responded to the change in Facebook\u2019s algorithm.
