When I was little, when something was happening somewhere, I would go to see who did what, who said what. Later, this character trait became a profession.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Hovhannes Movsisyan\u2019s entry into journalism began at age 16, from the <em>Menq Enq<\/em> (We Are) series produced by Internews Armenia in collaboration with its partners, then continued with the Max Liberty youth program at RFE\/RL\u2019s Armenian service (Azatutyun).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I went to Azatutyun, it was just a radio [station] where they produced and broadcast radio-format products. Over the years, we went through different stages, we changed, today we also have an online TV, which broadcasts several hours-long live streams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Working simultaneously on different platforms is engaging: radio, website, working with text, audio, images. \u201cWhen you combine these three together, it\u2019s impossible to get bored,\u201d he says.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtecenter\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3qocmkg0yNA\" width=\"560\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Azatutyun began live broadcasting events about five years ago, after the 2013 elections during presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian\u2019s protests. \u201cOur director, Hrayr Tamrazyan, had brought the transmitting device. We were a little skeptical; we thought who\u2019s going to be interested in following a live-streamed event if you can go and participate in person?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The number of online views and people\u2019s response showed the opposite: there was interest. \u201cNow when we broadcast a rally live, organizers say turn it off, people are watching the live stream and no one\u2019s coming to the rally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4544\/38886414261_d5f95c2b1f.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hovhannes considers Armenia not that attractive of a country for journalists: major events rarely happen here. But he\u2019s \u201cone of the lucky ones,\u201d who\u2019s experienced major events during the course of his work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn event, even if there\u2019s a danger and beating\u2026 it interests me more than daily journalism. If there\u2019s an event, you shouldn\u2019t be too lazy, you should go, get there, and report it. And when you know that a certain group of people are waiting for your news outlet\u2019s broadcasts, that motivates you even more. There have been times when we\u2019ve ben the only media outlet covering [an event].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Social media is one of Hovhannes\u2019 favorite platforms. The audience\u2019s response is received the most and the fastest through social networking sites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen social media wasn\u2019t that big, from where did we get people\u2019s response? I\u2019m trying to remember, [but] I can\u2019t. Feedback is very important. I always read the comments left below my news stories; sometimes I reckon with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4570\/38886414151_dcd69ae88e.jpg\" style=\"width:100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hovhannes is in his seventh year with Azatutyun; he believes he won\u2019t get bored for a long time yet. \u201cWhen they say, you go to work in the morning, I can say I don\u2019t have work.
