{"id":6363,"date":"2016-04-27T23:17:16","date_gmt":"2016-04-27T23:17:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/media.am\/abc7-camera-operator-caught-on-air-insulting-armenians\/"},"modified":"2016-04-27T23:17:16","modified_gmt":"2016-04-27T23:17:16","slug":"abc7-camera-operator-caught-on-air-insulting-armenians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/media.am\/en\/newsroom\/2016\/04\/27\/6363\/","title":{"rendered":"ABC7 Camera Operator Caught On Air Insulting Armenians"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>US TV channel ABC7 camera operator called Armenians &#8220;thug-type idiots&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Armenian-American press urges the public to contact ABC7 and voice its complaints<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a video circulated online, an ABC7 camera operator identified as Tim, in the course of interviewing two Turkish-Americans, says, &#8220;\u2026most of them [Armenians] are like thug-type idiots.&#8221; (ABC7 or KABC is the Los Angeles and Southern California arm of ABC.)<\/p>\n<p>Armenian-American media reported that the video was filmed on April 24, when Armenian-Americans were participating in an Armenian Genocide &#8220;Rally for Justice&#8221; in Los Angeles outside the Turkish Consulate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The video was uploaded by one of the two people being interviewed, Ergun Kirlikovali (former president of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations). Naturally, this isn&#8217;t the video shot by the ABC7 camera operator. It&#8217;s simply that Kirlikovali asked one of his associates to also film the interview and at the 5:21-minute mark viewers can hear the <a href=\"http:\/\/asbarez.com\/149536\/caught-on-tape-abc7-cameraman-calls-armenians-thug-type-idiots\/\">camera operator&#8217;s assessment <\/a>of Armenians.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve noticed you guys are pretty peaceful back here and holding your ground. I haven\u2019t tried to talk to them because most of them are like thug-type idiots,&#8221; said Tim, the camera operator, adding, &#8220;Once you start talking to someone you just get a lot of \u2018rarara\u2019 behind it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Near the end of the video, Kirlikovali asks ABC to invite him for a discussion on what he calls \u201cArmenian territorial claims\u201d and \u201cArmenian terrorists,\u201d to which Tim concurs, &#8220;Yeah, Armenian gangs.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Armenian-American paper <em>Asbarez <\/em>has launched a social media campaign against ABC7 for the camera operator&#8217;s remarks.
