The theme of this year&#8217;s event is <em>21st Century Media: New Frontiers, New Barriers<\/em>. A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/events\/pressfreedomday\/joint_message.shtml\">joint message<\/a> by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova emphasized the need to bring freedom of expression principles to the online world.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 14.0px Arian AMU; min-height: 16.0px;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 14.0px Arian AMU;\">&#8220;Over the last decade, more than 500 journalists lost their lives in the pursuit of their profession.
