



{"id":41148,"date":"2024-11-27T22:48:58","date_gmt":"2024-11-27T22:48:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/media.am\/?p=41148"},"modified":"2024-12-16T06:29:11","modified_gmt":"2024-12-16T06:29:11","slug":"tvapatum-2024-award-winners-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/media.am\/en\/newsroom\/2024\/11\/27\/41148\/","title":{"rendered":"Tvapatum 2024: Award Winners Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Media Initiatives Center has summarized the results of the &#8220;Tvapatum 2024&#8221; annual Media Awards Ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The Media Initiatives Center hosted the &#8220;Tvapatum 2024&#8221; awards ceremony for the 10th consecutive year, honoring professional excellence in human-centered storytelling by selecting the highest quality and most responsible journalism using innovative approaches and modern tools and upholding ethical principles.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prominent media and civil society experts served as the jury for &#8220;Tvapatum 2024,&#8221; awarding the winners monetary prizes and &#8220;Tvapatum&#8221; statuettes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41090 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/MIC03624-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/MIC03624-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/MIC03624-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/MIC03624-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/MIC03624.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The jury awarded a special prize to &#8220;Aravot&#8221; journalist Tatevik Harutyunyan in the &#8220;Homo Agendi (Person in Action)&#8221; category for her story titled<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aravot.am\/2023\/12\/06\/1386910\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> &#8220;I Want People to Remain Human and Love Each Other.&#8221;<\/a> Additionally, an incentive prize in this category was given to &#8220;News.am&#8221; journalist Taguhi Melkonyan for her story <a href=\"https:\/\/news.am\/arm\/news\/839732.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;From Ashotsk to Kaghsi: The Coach Who Founded an All-Girls Football Team and Breaks Stereotypes.&#8221;<\/a> Both authors, along with the individuals featured in their stories, received 150,000 AMD each.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Ditak<\/strong> Prize, which honors excellence in investigative journalism, was awarded to Anya Sarkisova, a journalist for the &#8220;Hetq&#8221; media outlet. She received a prize of 250,000 AMD for her article titled <a href=\"https:\/\/hetq.am\/hy\/article\/165552\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Black Market of Drugs: Why Some Drugs Are Not Registered, But Are Sold.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-41092 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/468035943_1057169056419922_3458094394621990375_n-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/468035943_1057169056419922_3458094394621990375_n-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/468035943_1057169056419922_3458094394621990375_n-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/468035943_1057169056419922_3458094394621990375_n-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/media.am\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/468035943_1057169056419922_3458094394621990375_n.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, an incentive prize was awarded to Narek Kirakosyan from &#8220;Factor TV&#8221; for his investigative story &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/factor.am\/778986.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Who Supplied Trees to Yerevan? The Deal at the Center of the Anti-Corruption Committee.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lusine Vardanyan from &#8220;Civilnet&#8221; received the newly established award, &#8220;Tun ev Tegh&#8221;(The Place Where We Live), along with a prize of 250,000 AMD for her article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.civilnet.am\/news\/760243\/%D5%A4%D5%A2%D5%A1-%D5%A4%D5%A5%D5%A2%D5%A5%D5%A4%E2%80%A4-%D5%A3%D5%A5%D5%BF%D5%AB-%D5%A1%D5%B6%D5%A1%D5%B2%D5%B4%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%AF-%D5%A1%D5%B2%D5%BF%D5%B8%D5%BF%D5%B8%D6%82%D5%B4%D5%A8\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Towards Debed: Silent Contamination of the River,&#8221;<\/a> which highlights urgent environmental issues in the Tavush region.<\/p>\n<p>Journalists Susina Khachatryan and Lilit Grigoryan from &#8220;Infocom&#8221; received the &#8220;Media 3.0&#8221; award for their innovative use of technology in journalistic storytelling. They were honored for their article titled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/infocom.am\/hy\/article\/135529\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Every 4th Official of Regional Communities Has Not Submitted at Least One Declaration&#8221;<\/a> and received a prize of 250,000 AMD.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, an incentive prize of 100,000 AMD was awarded to Hasmik Smbatyan, a journalist from &#8220;Radio Liberty,&#8221; for her short video titled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/1009914900519916\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;The &#8216;Dangerous&#8217; and &#8216;Safe&#8217; Sounds of Grenade: What Did Nikol Pashinyan Say in 2018 and 2024?&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the &#8220;Akanjogh&#8221; (Earring) category, the jury awarded two special prizes of 150,000 AMD each. The first prize was given to &#8220;Civilnet&#8221; journalist Lyudmila Shirvanyan for her video titled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CcQwUB4UToY&amp;t=1s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Yazidi Woman Breaks Stereotypes,&#8221;<\/a> highlighting the education issue among national minorities. Tatul Khachatryan&#8217;s Story.&#8221;<\/a> Additionally, the jury awarded a special prize of 150,000 AMD to Rima Grigoryan, a journalist from Hetq, for her article <a href=\"https:\/\/hetq.am\/hy\/article\/167902\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Do You Want Me to Tell Our Story?&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Infocom&#8221; journalist Zara Khachatryan received the &#8220;Covering Science&#8221; award (200,000 AMD) for her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL-NLgL5vbSyeoJs147cRUZFtxwFzYyJtt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gitarbuk<\/a> series, which explores the intersection of traditional culture and modern science.<\/p>\n<p>The jury also awarded an incentive prize (100,000 AMD) to fellow &#8220;Infocom&#8221; journalist Ani Khachatryan for her article on the <a href=\"https:\/\/infocom.am\/hy\/article\/137568\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zorats Stones<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, the jury presents a special achievement award. This year, &#8220;Boon TV&#8221; received a special award with a prize of 150,000 AMD for its consistent dedication to promoting science reporting over the past 13 years.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s competition committee included representatives from the media and civil society, specifically: Gayane Mirzoyan, co-founder of Urbanista; Gnel Nalbandian, editor-in-chief of the Newmag publishing house; Hrachuhi Utmazyan, head of the First Channel Media Academy; Armen Grigoryan, head of programs at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation &#8211; Armenia; and Anahit Gevorgyan, last year&#8217;s winner in the &#8220;Executive&#8221; category.<\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The &#8220;Tvapatum&#8221; Journalism Contest is made possible by the generous support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).&nbsp;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The U.S. Agency for International Development administers the U.S. foreign assistance program <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">providing<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> economic and humanitarian assistance in more than 80 countries worldwide.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The &#8220;Tvapatum&#8221; Journalism Contest is organized with the financial support of the European Union.&nbsp;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The &#8220;Tvapatum&#8221; Journalism Contest is also supported by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, the International Committee of the Red Cross <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> the Gituzh Initiative.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Media Initiatives Center has summarized the results of the &#8220;Tvapatum 2024&#8221; annual Media Awards Ceremony.
