On the 4th of June, a Facebook page called \u201c\u0535\u0580\u0533\u056b\u0580\u0568 \u0565\u0580\u0533\u056b\u0580 \u0531” [YerGiry yerGir A], that has roughly 35,000 likes, published<\/a> a video from a protest against the Prime Minister candidate Robert Kocharyan. \u201cRobert Kocharyan couldn\u2019t carry out a press conference as citizens were breaking doors while screaming murderer\u2026\u201d, they wrote.<\/p>\n

This post, however, made no mention of the fact that the video was shot a couple of years ago. Thus, the post is disseminated without the context, which may mislead Facebook users.<\/p>\n

The protest against Kocharyan took place in 2018<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This post has been shared over 700 times, and the clip has had around 25,000 views.<\/p>\n

The demonstration which is seen in the video was organized on 14th of August, 2018, after the Armenian Velvet Revolution and during the litigation against Robert Kocharyan. The day before this demonstration Kocharyan was freed<\/a> from imprisonment.<\/p>\n

The clip that the Facebook page \u201cYerGiry yerGir A\u201d published, was taken from Radio Liberty\u2019s broadcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the comments section of the video Facebook users were encouraging or disapproving of the demonstration, most likely without knowing that they were looking at an outdated clip. One of the Facebook users, for example, wrote: \u201cWell done, righteous Armenians. You should organize such fair gatherings more often.\u201d Other users were disagreeing with her by criticizing the working Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.<\/p>\n

\u201cYerGiry yerGir A\u201d was not the only page to share this video without making the notice that the video was from 2018. The clip was also shared<\/a> by the Facebook page \u201c\u0536\u0561\u0580\u0574\u0561\u0576\u0561\u056c\u056b \u0531\u0577\u056d\u0561\u0580\u0570\u201d [Zarmanali Ashkharh], on whose profile and cover pictures are the pre-election posters of the ruling Civil Contract Party.<\/p>\n

The video spreading on Facebook, where protestors are said to be interrupting Robert Kocharyan\u2019s press conference is, therefore, outdated. It was shot in 2018.<\/p>\n
