Pashinyan misjudged the number of victims on the Armenian side<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

During his speech in Ohanavan, the Prime Minister <\/span>announced<\/span><\/a> that the number of victims is being falsified and exaggerated. According to the Prime Minister, as of March 19, 3,250 victims are officially known, another 189 families are waiting for answers to DNA tests.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some politicians <\/span>sound<\/span><\/a> a number that is really unverified and that exceeds the official data by several times. However, the number voiced by Pashinyan also contradicts the number of officially announced victims.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Back in February, the Ministry of Health <\/span>announced<\/span><\/a> 3,577 dead. And on March 15, the Artsakh Defense Army <\/span>published<\/span><\/a> the names of another 96 killed servicemen. Thus, as of March 19, the number of officially known victims exceeded what the Prime Minister had announced.<\/span><\/p>\n

The hunt was not in Artsakh but in the northern region of Azerbaijan<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On March 26, the Armenian press reported that “Arab sheiks are hunting in Artsakh.” Articles with such a title were published by <\/span>lurer.com<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>\u0418\u043d\u0444\u043e\u0442\u0435\u043a\u0430 24<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>asekose.am<\/span><\/a> and other news outlets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The news was wrong, Arab tourists hunted not in Artsakh, but in the northern Kak\u0570 region of Azerbaijan. The published <\/span>photos<\/span><\/a> showed the hunters with a killed crane. The photos <\/span>were widely spread<\/span><\/a> on Azerbaijani social networks and angered users and environmentalists.<\/span> \"\"<\/p>\n

The Swiss benefactor was convinced that Western forces were behind the Armenian government<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The conspiratorial allegations of the <\/span>interview<\/span><\/a> of the benefactor Teresa Mkhitaryan to “Yerkir Media” TV channel <\/span>were spread on social networks<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mkhitaryan believed that nothing happens by chance, and behind everything, there are “forces” – the Western globalists. According to her, these forces are also behind the Armenian government (in particular, the British, US embassies and the “Soros Office”).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mkhitaryan was convinced that in Armenia “Soros, globalists and Western forces” make people “idiots” through the media. After that, people are given the “legalized drug” by the globalists. Mkhitaryan thought that “they give orders from outside” to grow marijuana in Armenia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To prove her claims, Mkhitaryan submitted a list of media funded by the OSF Armenia Foundation. That list, however, consisted largely of the names of civic initiatives and NGOs. Information on OSF-funded projects is open: It <\/span>can be found<\/span><\/a> on the foundation’s website.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Despite the belief that the “forces” of the West have committed many atrocities, Mkhitaryan <\/span>lives<\/span><\/a> in one of the richest countries in the West, Switzerland.<\/span><\/p>\n

No Armenian driver was killed on the Georgian-Russian border<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On March 23, the Russian “\u0422\u0435\u043b\u0435\u043a\u0430\u043d\u0430\u043b 360” <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a> that a fight took place between truck drivers on the Georgian-Russian border, and a Turkish driver killed an Armenian. The information <\/span>was also spread<\/span><\/a> in the Armenian press.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The next day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the information had not been confirmed. “The diplomatic missions of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia and Rostov have contacted the relevant bodies of those countries and that information has not been confirmed,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Anna Naghdalyan <\/span>told<\/span><\/a> Sputnik Armenia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The deputy denied the false information spread from the fake page<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On March 16, a Twitter page on behalf of Russian journalist Semyon Pegov <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a> that the Turkish Foreign Minister had arrived in Armenia and was greeted by MP Arman Babajanyan. The post was accompanied <\/span>by a photo<\/span><\/a> from Mevlut Cavusoglu’s <\/span>visit<\/span><\/a> to New Zealand in 2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Arman Babjanyan <\/span>referred to<\/span><\/a> the post and denied the information, accusing Pegov of targeting him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The same day, the ArmVoice Telegram channel <\/span>reported<\/span><\/a> that Pegov had denied the information and that he did not have a Twitter page.<\/span><\/p>\n

A picture taken in Ukraine was presented as a photo of Baghramyan Avenue<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On March 23, the opposition <\/span>opened<\/span><\/a> Baghramyan Avenue, which had been closed for about a year. On the same day, Taron Chakhoyan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, posted a photo of a street covered with garbage on his Facebook page and wrote, “Baghramyan Avenue today.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The information was <\/span>incorrect<\/span><\/a>. The photo did not show Baghramyan Avenue, but <\/span>one of the streets<\/span><\/a> in the Ukrainian city of Melitopol. Chakhoyan <\/span>removed<\/span><\/a> the information and apologized.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Defense denied the news, although the evidence provided was accurate<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On March 16, the Russian military news agency Anna News <\/span>expressed indignation<\/span><\/a> over Armenia’s alleged participation in NATO military exercises. Anna News journalist Alexander Kharchenko wrote that Armenia participates in “anti-Russian exercises.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Defense <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> the information. In a conversation with Sputnik Armenia, the head of the Defense Policy Department of the Ministry of Defense Levon Aylvazyan <\/span>called<\/span><\/a> the news “misinformation” and “gossip.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Anna News\u2019 infographic<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/div>\n

Kharchenko substantiated the assertion with an infographic taken from the official website of the Defender-Europe 21 military exercise, where Armenia <\/span>was really mentioned<\/span><\/a> as a participating country. Later the infographic <\/span>was updated<\/span><\/a> and Armenia was removed from the list of participants.<\/span><\/p>\n

The government denied the information about Hakob Arshakyan’s resignation<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The state website Infockeck.am <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> the news that BTA Minister Hakob Arshakyan had resigned. Soon, however, it was Arshakyan who <\/span>announced<\/span><\/a> on his Facebook page that he was leaving his post.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“As a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, I consider unacceptable the use of violence by an official against any citizen,” Arshakyan wrote, referring to the <\/span>incident<\/span><\/a> with journalist Paylak Fahradyan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Incomplete information on side effects of AstraZeneca was reported<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the second half of March, unverified or incomplete information about the British-Swedish AstraZeneca vaccine <\/span>continued to be spread<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the reasons for the spread of such rumors was the cases of side effects registered in different countries. Neighboring Georgia registered an acute allergic reaction and death after vaccination.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Media.am <\/span>spoke<\/span><\/a> in detail about what the side effects were and why the relevant bodies advise continuing to vaccinate with AstraZeneca.<\/span><\/p>\n

Denials<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

? Matenadaran <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> the information spread by Facebook user Vardan Ghukasyan that Arabic manuscripts had disappeared from the museum institute and were sold. Vardan Ghukasyan is a former police officer, who often makes scandalous Facebook posts. In January, Ghukasyan announced that the wife of the third president, Rita Sargsyan, had not actually died. Ghukasyan <\/span>did not bring<\/span><\/a> any evidence to his allegations.<\/span><\/p>\n

? Viva-MTS <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> the information circulating on the Internet that there was a leak from the company’s database.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

? At the end of March, information <\/span>was spread<\/span><\/a> on the Internet that former Chief of Police Vladimir Gasparyan had died. First, his lawyer <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> the news, then <\/span>Gasparyan himself<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

? A protest action took place on March 22 in Yerevan’s No. 1 nursing home. According to <\/span>media reports<\/span><\/a>, the reason was the decision to unite Nork and Yerevan No. 1 nursing homes, as well as to dismiss the director of Yerevan No. 1 nursing home. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> the news about the merger of nursing homes. According to the ministry, the term of office of the director of the nursing home had expired, a temporary acting director had been appointed, and a competition for a new director would be announced in the future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

? Former director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Ara Vardanyan <\/span>announced<\/span><\/a> on his Facebook page that the fund had embezzled $8 million, and the international audit did not accept the report submitted to the fund by the Armenian government. A number of news outlets reproduced Vardanyan’s post <\/span>in the same way<\/span><\/a>. The foundation <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> this information, calling it “nonsense and misinformation.”<\/span><\/p>\n

? On March 15, 168.am website <\/span>published<\/span><\/a> an article entitled “Are schools switching to distance learning?” Although the author asked an ambiguous question in the title, the answer was simple and contained in the same article\u2024 The Ministry of Health denied the information. “The spokesperson of the Minister of Health Hripsime Khachatryan told 168.am that such rumors and news are circulating almost every day, but the Ministry of Health has already been spreading an official denial for days,” the article read.<\/span><\/p>\n

Demands for refutals<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

? Prime Minister Pashinyan accused the leader of “Yerkir Tsirani” party Zaruhi Postanjyan of slander. He <\/span>demanded<\/span><\/a> that Postanjyan refute the claim that Pashinyan was an agent and had received money to hand over the lands. Pashinyan also demanded 2 million AMD in compensation from Postanjyan.<\/span><\/p>\n

? Journalist Paylak Fahradyan’s lawyer <\/span>demanded to refute<\/span><\/a> the <\/span>information<\/span><\/a> spread by Medianews.site that Fahradyan had sworn at BTA Minister Hakob Arshakyan, after which the minister hit the journalist. About two weeks after the incident, Minister Arshakyan <\/span>resigned<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
