The opposition rally was not canceled<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On February 20, before the opposition rally, Facebook user Sargis Manukyan <\/span>wrote<\/span><\/a> that the rally would not take place due to heavy snow. The user did not mention any source of this information, but asked to spread his post in order to “inform the citizens\u2024”<\/span><\/p>\n

A number of villages in the Shushi region are under Armenian control<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

During the February 20 rally, Arthur Vanetsyan, former head of the National Security Service and leader of the Homeland party, responded to the government’s accusation that he had left the village of Shosh during the war.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vanetsyan <\/span>said<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0 “Shosh village is the only village in Shushi region that is still under the control of the Armenian side. How did we hand over the village of Shosh, which is still under Armenian control?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Journalist Tatul Hakobyan <\/span>commented<\/span><\/a> on Vanetsyan’s words, noting that Shosh is a village in the Askeran region, and a number of villages in the Shushi region are under Armenian control.<\/span><\/p>\n

Politicians distort the number of deaths and injured<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Politicians mentioned different numbers several times while talking about the dead and wounded in the second Artsakh war.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, on February 28, singer, former RPA MP Shushan Petrosyan <\/span>spoke<\/span><\/a> of “up to 7,000 deaths.” Petrosyan did not mention the source of this information. According to official data, the number of deaths on the Armenian side <\/span>reaches<\/span><\/a> 3,577.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, former Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan <\/span>announced<\/span><\/a> about 10,000 amputated soldiers. But this number is also problematic. According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, 120 to 130 servicemen <\/span>need<\/span><\/a> prosthetics.<\/span><\/p>\n

False and manipulative allegations were made during two parallel rallies<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On February 25, after the announcement of the General Staff demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister, opposition and government rallies took place in Yerevan at the same time. Media.am followed the events and <\/span>singled out<\/span><\/a> the incorrect or manipulative news of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

? The media wrote that the statement of the General Staff was considered by the “My Step” bloc “a political statement made by separate individuals from military.” In fact, the statement was signed by several dozen high-ranking military officials.<\/span><\/p>\n

After writing the news sites, a text was published on the My Step Facebook page, which did not contain the wording about “separate individuals in the military.”<\/span><\/p>\n

? Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl\u00fct \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu condemned the statement of the Armenian General Staff, considering it an attempt at a military coup. The statement was also <\/span>condemned by<\/span><\/a> the Armenian deputy of the Turkish parliament Karo Palyan.<\/span><\/p>\n

The press and politicians in Armenia manipulated \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu’s statement, <\/span>claiming<\/span><\/a> that he “expresses his support for Nikol Pashinyan.” This assertion was manipulative. \u00c7avu\u015fo\u011flu did not say anything about supporting Pashinyan.<\/span><\/p>\n

? The Armenian and Russian sides spread different statements about the telephone conversation between Nikol Pashinyan and Vladimir Putin. The Armenian side <\/span>noted<\/span><\/a> that “President Putin expressed his support to the legitimate authorities of Armenia. This wording <\/span>was missing<\/span><\/a> in the statement of the Russian side.<\/span><\/p>\n

The weight loss advertisement contained false information<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In February, a slimming product called Slimagic advertisement was spread on the Armenian domain of social networks. Media.am <\/span>found out<\/span><\/a> that the advertisement was spread from fake pages, and it used photos of TV journalists who have nothing to do with Slimagic.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, this measure is not registered in Armenia, and its sale is illegal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The banknote with the image of Aznavour was not real<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Director, chairman of the European Party of Armenia Tigran Khzmalyan <\/span>wrote<\/span><\/a> on his Facebook page that a 100-euro banknote with “images of Aznavour, Ararat, Etchmiadzin and even the Armenian dram” had been put into circulation in France.<\/span><\/p>\n

News<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>mushroom<\/span><\/a> websites spread Khzmalyan’s post without checking. The banknote, however, was not real. These photos have <\/span>been available<\/span><\/a> on the Internet since 2019. Moreover, the banknote <\/span>can be found<\/span><\/a> on eBay, the price is $4.<\/span><\/p>\n

Denials<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

? On February 25, the General Staff of the Armed Forces <\/span>issued<\/span><\/a> a statement demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government. Prime Minister Pashinyan described this step as an attempt at a military coup and insisted that the statement of the General Staff was because he had decided to dismiss the head of the General Staff Onik Gasparyan.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of the Republic denied the words of the Prime Minister. Armen Sargsyan’s office <\/span>informed<\/span><\/a> that they received the offer to dismiss Gasparyan after the announcement demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister.<\/span><\/p>\n

? The National Security Service <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> the information spread by Livenews.am that a “group of special detachments” had arrived in Armenia from Turkey.<\/span><\/p>\n

? The spokesman of the Armenian National Congress Arman Musinyan <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> the information spread by the website newsmedia.am that Prime Minister Pashinyan visited the private house of the first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan.<\/span><\/p>\n

? The Prime Minister’s spokesperson Mane Gevorgyan <\/span>denied<\/span><\/a> the rumors that Vagharshak Harutyunyan was relieved of the post of Minister of Defense.<\/span><\/p>\n

? Prime Minister Pashinyan denied the <\/span>information<\/span><\/a> spread after the announcement of the General Staff that he was planning to flee Armenia, and a plane was prepared for that. Pashinyan <\/span>announced<\/span><\/a> that he and his family were not going to leave Armenia under any circumstances.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
