{"id":251,"date":"2011-02-25T09:23:02","date_gmt":"2011-02-25T09:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/media.am\/armenian-mp-sues-local-daily-yerkir\/"},"modified":"2011-02-25T09:23:02","modified_gmt":"2011-02-25T09:23:02","slug":"armenian-mp-sues-local-daily-yerkir","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/media.am\/en\/newsroom\/2011\/02\/25\/251\/","title":{"rendered":"Armenian MP Sues Local Daily Yerkir"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) MP Tigran Arzakantsyan has filed a lawsuit against local <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yerkir.am\/en\/home.htm\">daily Yerkir<\/a> (\u201cCountry\u201d), claiming that the newspaper has sullied his honor and dignity in an article as part of a series titled \u201c131 faces and masks\u201d in Yerkir\u2019s Jan. 13 issue.<\/p>\n<p>The MP is demanding 3 million 568 thousand AMD (about $9,775 US) in compensation: 3 million AMD (about $8,219 US) for damages for insult and libel; 500,000 AMD (about $1,370 US) for lawyer fees incurred; and 68,000 AMD (about $186 US) for court expenses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The preliminary trial will take place on Mar. 25 at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative Districts in Yerevan.<\/p>\n<p>Note, the newspaper reported on Feb. 5 that the MP had sent a letter to the editorial offices, asking them to publish it in full.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The very literate, semi-journalistic, semi-philisophical essay in pure, clear Armenian praises Yerkir daily&#8217;s young years and criticizes the new. He also sent a notice signed by Hrant Bagradyan.
